“Kinda upsetting…
I’ve had to switch hosts twice in the past year, with HostGator being my third web hosting company. Unfortunately I cannot fully recommend these guys either. Their load times where poor…and when load times are poor I know that people are hitting the back button, which means my bounce rates start to fall…which means some of my rankings fall off! I don’t like the fact that I have to pay the entire year’s hosting fees upfront, even though it is cheap, I guess I’m just not very trusting of web hosts anymore. The security if fine over here and the support is responding to my inquiries and helping me, but I just cannot give these guys the full thumbs up right now.”

I now have 5 sites on my HostGator service with the Baby plan. It's working out fine for me. 3 websites are just HTML sites with a few very simple scripts that don't run at all times and the last 2 are Joomla and WordPress hosting sites. In the beginning I got a few database errors but this was apparently temporary problem as support told me. The only real problem I've had was uploading files within Joomla. For some reason when I upload files in there the process is about 3 times slower than it would be when using FTP or their control panel file manager. Support hasn't been able to point to any specific issue as to why this is happening. They say it could be an issue with the theme I am using for Joomla. But this isn't too important as the files do get eventually uploaded but you just need a bit more patience to wait until its done. For the rest like the email, it works very very well on all aspects. Webmail interface offers you choice of Horde, Squirrel Mail and RoundCube. Never a problem sending or receiving emails on any of my domains. As HostGator is such a great web host it will stay my number one choice for web hosting at the moment.

Finally a professional web host that knows what they're doing. For business web hosting, they're my number one recommended choice on the web at the moment. Was hosting with a GoDaddy reseller before and their service was not good. Frequent interruptions and technical support that required a 45 minute wait time, then you get disconnected for a strange reason. This NEVER happened at HostGator in all 5 years of doing business with them. Always friendly staff that resolved any questions that I had immediately during the call. Other web hosts should be more like HostGator, dependable friendly and above all professional.

We now use the business plan at Host Gator. Might upgrade to VPS web hosting when the site gets bigger and more demanding. So far so good. Never been an outage. We pay monthyl for our hosting services with HG. $15 a month isn't bad with what's included and the ability not to pay in advance is great for us.

Hi, I'm a hosting reseller and wanted to let you know about the experience with HostGator. I'm on the Silver plan – or something like that I'm not sure what they call it anymore – and it appears to be suitable for the few accounts I got with them. This is just a side business for me and it appears to keep the customers happy. My reseller control panel is very easy to work with. Every element is in its place and works directly. I used to work with Go Daddy a while back and the difference is enormous. No spam coming it at all times and no items in the control panels that are just disguised ads for them to make money. Any additional services that you need to pay more for are clearly marked so you won't go thinking that you have something included when you do not. Managing hosting accounts becomes very easy with HostGator. Billing and customer care are good but I recommend avoiding contacting them during the morning as this is when it seems they're the busiest so wait times are in excess of 5 minutes. Other than that reliability is of no issue at HostGator. This company has bee naround for years now and are getting very popular now. Good to notice that they were able to keep up with all the new customers they got and keep giving excellent service to their reseller.

All my sites are hosted on Hostgator. When I signed up I got a hostgator coupon to get one month free and tried it. Pointed the domain over to their server and saw how it works. Decided to stay with them and to let my Godaddy hosting account expire. I find that Hostgator is much more relaible and the technical support is a lot more attentive when you ask them a smart question. At other hosting businesses the waiting time to get to an actual human being on the chat is usually frustratingly long but I'm happy to say that I've never had such a problem when using Hostgator.

I wanted to sign up for HostGator VPS web hosting but it turns out that I just couldn't. Ordered their cheapest VPS package for monthly hosting. Later found out my account was suspsended and they asked me to fax a copy of my passport and credit card. Of course it says nowhere in the order page that I would need to do this and I honestly hate it when an only company makes it so difficult to sign up with them. It's not like I ordered anything expensive from them so I don't see the justification about it. I provide various design services for clients online and imagine the mess that my business would be in if I started to demand personal identification every time somebody made an order of $20 or so. Guess I wouldn't have many clients now, would I?

HostGator is a great company. There were never any server problems at HostGator for as long as I used them, which has been more than 5 years until now. I'm a reseller that has 5 websites hosted for clients on my HostGator web hosting account and have never had one bad thing to report about them. They are inexpensive but they aren't the cheapest web host of the entire world. Anybody who would want a reseller account would prefer logically to pay a few dollars more and get a good service rather than try to save money and end up with hosting that is simply of poor quality. All of my clients have reported that the control panel is well organized and that their hosting never caused them any problems. This is the number one reason I'm staying with HostGator and I will continue to stay with them in the future too.

Host Gator is good and better than any other host I was used to. SUrprised by the speed of their support. Maybe its because with much bigger hosts I got used to waiting 30 minutes on the phone. At Host Gator you get an answer almost immediately even when it's busy during the day. Definitely appreciate the efforts that they put in to provide customers of their web hosting service a good quality technical support.

Host Gator always gave my business what was needed for hosting. Everything worked as planned and prices are good. Control panel has easy features to navigate and use, didn't have any bad things happen with it. No error messages or pages that wouldn't load like what would always happen at my other hosting service provider. Very good overall value at Host Gator.
