Technology Entrepeneur? Visit York`s Venturefest

Whether you are a technology entrepreneur or an investor with an interest in technology, Venturefest Yorkshire is guaranteed to provide you with more valuable networking opportunities than any other event this year.

 Why Choose Venturefest?

Held on the 8th February at York Racecourse, this will be the 9th annual Venturefest to take place in Yorkshire and is anticipated to be one of the best attended. With good connections north and south, excellent York hotels for accommodation and a plethora of fresh talent exhibiting, this promises to be one of the highlights of the technology industry’s calendar for 2012.

Venturefest 2011 was a roaring success, with Ed Taylor of ‘Ed Taylor Designs’ not only the pre-dinner speaker but also one of the events great successes. He met up with innovative furniture manufacturers ABF Europe at the event and they now hope to bring his guitars to market. With unique opportunities such as this for every investor or entrepreneur attending this year, who would want to miss it?

What’s Happening?

The day has a strong focus on networking, with plenty of opportunities for attendees to make new contacts. As well as this, there will be dedicated sessions for creators and investors to meet and gather support for new projects, as well as a Dragons-Den-style competition where eight businesses will battle it out to secure support worth around £30,000. Speakers will include a representative from York software company Propalms, The Beer Mat Entrepreneur Mike Southon and keynote speaker Nigel Botterill from the Entrepreneurs’ Circle. The day will be rounded off with a gala dinner that includes presentations.

As well as the core seminar sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to peruse the extensive exhibition, where they will be able to network with suppliers of interest to their industry. Alongside the traditional exhibition area, the Innovation Showcase will highlight thirty businesses from the local area as examples of the best science or technology innovators in the region. There will also be opportunities for young people to showcase their ideas and potential.

How to Get There and Where to Stay

The event will be held at the York Racecourse at Knavesmire, which is easily reached from both the M1 and A1 by car. There are also direct rail services into York from Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Birmingham, with the racecourse just a short taxi ride from the station. The airports of Leeds and Manchester are both within easy reach of the city should you be travelling from further afield.

There are plenty of popular and well-appointed York hotels to choose from for your accommodation, although the organisers have managed to secure a number of rooms at the closest hotel to the racecourse, the York Marriott, at a discounted rate. It is thought these rooms will sell out quickly. If you do miss them, then there are a number of other hotels within easy reach of the racecourse, or you could opt for one of the historical hotels in the city centre and enjoy some of the sights of York during your stay.
