With WordPress there are two options, WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Sign up for a webhosting account

  • Research web hosting companies by reading reviews online, and select the hosting company that best meets your needs. You will need to purchase a domain name from a domain registrar to use on your website.

Access cPanel

  • Sign on to you hosting company’s cPanel of your domain and access the scripts, such as Fantastico or Simple Scripts, and follow the prompts for the installation of WordPress on your selected domain name.
  • Choose WordPress from the software options
  • Follow the prompts to install WordPress on your domain.  You will be required to select a user name and password so that you can access the site as administrator to build the site once installation is completed.

Accessing your WordPress Blog

  • Once the installation of your blog is complete, you will enter the web address of you blog in the address bar of a browser (i.e. http://www.mywebsite.com) and it will bring you to a sign in box where you will enter the username and password you had selected in the WordPress installation process. Once you gain access you will be able to start creating your webpages, selecting a theme, adjusting the layouts, and selecting widgets.
